Volunteers are vital to the continued growth and success of IMMB.
We rely upon our generous volunteer staff throughout the year to help us share the gift of mothers’ milk. We currently have needs in the following areas:
- Assistant Pasteurization Tech – Assist our staff in pooling, pasteurizing, and analyzing donor human milk. In this hands-on experience, volunteers will learn about the processes we use to ensure the safety and quality of our milk. No training or fancy credentials required – we will provide the training you need. Plus, you get to wear lab gear that makes you feel like you are in the operating room!
- Outreach Specialist – You’ve probably seen our Lactation Station at community events around town. As part of our outreach initiatives, we participate in community events throughout the year to support breastfeeding and raise awareness about IMMB. Outreach specialist volunteers help us staff Lactation Stations and tables, distribute information and our favorite part – hang out with cute babies and children!
- Office Helper – We have a small staff, so we can always use help with normal office duties such as data entry, filing, and organization. It may not be the most glamorous activity, but it sure helps us out!
- Special Projects – Do you have a special talent or skill? Do you want to donate your time or services to IMMB? We are always looking for people willing to help us with specialized tasks such as website design, database creation, and IT services.
Lactation Station at the Indiana State Fair
Our signature outreach project is providing Lactation Stations at the Indiana State Fair.
With nearly 1 million people visiting the fairgrounds in August, we feel it is vital to have a place for nursing moms to relax and breastfeeding, while also getting information about milk banking and other health issues. We operate multiple stations throughout the fairgrounds and at 12 hours per day for 17 days, the hours add up quickly! We invite health care providers and community members from throughout the state to volunteer. Not only will you be directly helping moms and babies, you can chat with your peers from around the state. Volunteers receive free admission to the fair and a catchy t-shirt. If you want to help, fill out the form below.
Does your business want to get in front of the 20,000 plus people who visit the Lactation Stations during the fair?
