Marketing & Outreach Intern

Summary of position: The Marketing and Outreach Intern will assist the Indiana Mothers’ Milk Bank’s Donor Outreach Coordinator in coordinating and implementing the organizations marketing and outreach efforts.

Position Description

• Responsible for Direct Marketing Campaign
  • Research and Identify appropriate Physicians, Hospitals, Lactation Consultants and Childbirth Educators.
  • Create and maintain Excel database of identified Physicians, Hospital, Lactation Consultants and Childbirth educators.
  • Distribute marketing collateral to identified recipients.
  • Create and manage marketing collateral re-ordering process
  • Responsible for Annual Report content management.
    • Work with Executive Director to create content for organizations Annual Report.
    • Edit content to fit within pre-designed document.
    • Distribute Annual Report.
    • Assist in creation of Communication Plan, including Social Media, blog and newsletter topic identification.
    • Responsible for creating Fundraising Letter.
      • Work with Executive Director on message framing and distribution.

Position Qualifications

• Marketing, Communication or Philanthropy Major.

We are so excited to announce that our first Milk Depot location outside of Indiana is officially open for business!! Officially opened August 2, 2011, in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, the new Milk Depot staff at Louisville’s Babyology – Breastfeeding Resource Center & Baby Boutique – are excited to help collect human milk donations and support breastfeeding initiatives in the Louisville community.

Vicki Sanders, Babyology Owner, and her staff will serve as the local connection to IMMB and as a local donation drop off site.  Babyology is already a fixture in the breastfeeding community in Louisville, so a partnership with IMMB only strengthened their support of breastfeeding and the use of human milk throughout Kentucky and beyond.  We are thrilled to officially announce this partnership and look forward to working with the amazing Babyology staff.

Today, we can officially say that the first stop of the 2011 Milk & Cookies Tour was a complete success!  We accomplished our goal of honoring the Tippecanoe County WIC staff for the amazing work they do to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding in the greater Lafayette community.  Check out the press the event got below.

The Milk & Cookies Tour is taking a very brief haitus due to IMMB’s signature outreach project, the Lactation Station at the Indiana State Fair.  However, we will be hitting the road again in September and are excited to travel the state thanking the generous work of our Milk Depot staff members.

IMMB is excited to announce our presence at the 2011 INShape Indiana Black & Minority Health Fair.  Our 3rd year at this event, we are partnering with the Indiana Black Breastfeeding Coalition (IBBC) and Indianapolis Healthy Start (IHS) to provide education, resources, and awareness about breastfeeding to the African-American community.

The African-American community has historically low breastfeeding rates and organizations such as IMMB, IBBC, and IHS are making strides to improve these rates.

The health fair runs from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17, 2011.  If you are interested in volunteering at this great event, you can find the volunteer sign up form here.  Please fill it out and send it back to Lactation Station Coordinator, Fernanda Agnes, at feagnes@immb.org or by fax at (317) 536 – 1676.
